I have been looking for a direction to take with this blog for the past month or so. I found it. A friend of mine recommended a book the other day called Six Pixels of Separation by web marketing guru Mitch Joel. I looked it up on Amazon, read a few reviews, read the first couple of pages and bought it.
The premise of the book is that the old saying “were all connected through six degrees of separation” is no longer the case – it’s only six pixels. With the expansion of the web and online networking, everything has changed. It has changed how we shop, how we communicate, how we do business, and how we have fun. I didn’t drive to borders and peruse the shelves for the new book, I googled the title and bought it on my iphone.
I don’t want to be another anonymous blogger telling you how far behind you are in the web 2.0 world but a guide to use web 2.0 and social network media and simple marketing to your advantage. It is really quite easy. I am no genius – I will probably point you towards people like Mitch Joel more often than not. It is, however, vital that you take hold of this new and quickly developing media and make it a key part of your business, or personal life.
I intend on blogging weekly, for those of you who are reading, I will try to update at least weekly. I hope it will be as good for you as it will be for me. Thanks for reading!
